Day 1 – TRAVEL to São Tomé and Príncipe

Arrive at Lisbon airport at the scheduled time. Boarding formalities for the flight to São Tomé and Príncipe. Welcome by our guide and immediate transfer to the hotel. Our guide will assist you with currency exchange on your first day at the hotel. We will exchange Euros into Dobras. Dinner not included at a good restaurant in town. Personal assistance from our guide throughout the trip.

Day 02 – Cocoa Route

Deep and Magical North and the Blue Lagoon.  In the past, São Tomé was known the world over as the island of chocolate. Today, we cross vast fields of plantations and crops, including sugar cane, to reach the sweetest and most unique flavour of São Tomé’s cocoa fruit. We’ll visit a cocoa cooperative to discover all the production processes involved until the cocoa is ready to be turned into chocolate. This includes fermentation, cleaning and drying, as well as the manual sorting carried out by the women of the cooperative. The visit costs €4 per person. We’ll continue the road to the Embondeiros, known in Africa as Baobabs. But because everything is even more beautiful and magical here in São Tomé, they have been given the name Micondó. Prepare your heart because we’re going to see plantations, beaches, and idyllic landscape.

Breakfast at the hotel.  Drive through the town of Guadalupe to the Lembá area. Here we can observe the hawks that watch over the coast. We continue to Anambó, the mythical place where the navigators João de Santarém and Pêro Escobar landed on 21 December 1470 (St. Thomas’ Day) at the request of King Afonso V of Portugal to explore the west coast of Africa.

Here you can admire the Padrão do Descobrimento, erected at the request of the government authorities to commemorate the arrival of the Portuguese navigators in São Tomé. We continue our journey along the legendary most beautiful road in the world, with the obligatory passage through the Santa Catarina Tunnel. On the way back, a stop at the incredible blue lagoon is a must. Free time for an unforgettable first dive. Lunch not included at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the village of Morro Peixe and the famous Roça Agostinho Neto. Return to the hotel. Accommodation and dinner on your own in a good restaurant in town.

Day 3 – Coffee Route – Chocolate tasting

Our expedition is full of surprises! On this day, we’re heading into the unknown depths of the island. Breakfast and lunch are included at the hotel.

This is the greenest spot on the island of São Tomé, and it was here that coffee plantations began at an altitude of 800 metres, just above the small town of Trindade. One of the highlights is the Roça de Monte Café, where a visit to the museum gives an insight into all the stages involved in coffee production. The visit is optional and costs €3 per person. Lovers of food, wine, poetry, and tranquillity will appreciate the farewell lunch at the Almada Negreiros museum restaurant. Farewell lunch included. Return to the city for a chocolate tasting at the Roça Diogo Vaz shop. Accommodation.

Day 4 – Route of paradise beaches

It’s going to be an emotional day. We’ll be heading south across the island, also known as the Coconut Route or Tropical Route. It will be a day full of surprises, as we discover the southern side of the island, including incredible visits to the world’s largest laundry, Roça Água Izé, Boca do Inferno and Pico do Cão.

After breakfast, our first stop is the largest laundry in the world. At the mouth of the Abade River, hundreds of women wash their clothes by hand. An incredible journey into the past. At Roça Água Izé, we will discover the story of a São Tomé visionary who made this nation respectable and left an invaluable legacy to our society today and his vision of the world.

Afterwards, we’ll drink coconut water at Boca do Inferno, a not-to-be-missed geological site in the region. Lunch at leisure in a local restaurant. We continue our adventure, taking in the breathtaking scenery of the forest and volcanoes. Highlights include the panoramic view of Pico do Cão-Grande and the Malanza River. Here we discover the true meaning of the word “Paradise”. Reception at Inhame Eco Resort. Accommodation and dinner included.

Hotel Inhame is the only hotel in the South that meets the minimum requirements for comfort. It is an eco-resort in the heart of nature that respects the ecosystem. There are no hairdryers in the hotel. The showers only have hot water from 6pm to 9pm. Take it easy, don’t jump to conclusions. Live the experience, remembering that the bungalows are simple, but that they are 20 metres from a sea with waters of 27, 28 and 29 degrees.

Day 05 – Extension by boat to Ilhéu das Rolas | Yes! Paradise – Ecuador’s Standard

Paradise and the Standard of Ecuador. Lunch and dinner are included that day. Pinch yourself. Yes! we’re going to Ilhéu das Rolas. After breakfast, we’ll take a boat to Ilhéu das Rolas.  Once again, at the island’s gentle pace, we’ll head a little further south under the warm waters of the Gulf of Guinea until we reach Ilhéu das Rolas.  Lunch and dinner included on this day.

This day is dedicated to the discovery of Ilhéu das Rolas. We will have the opportunity to see both hemispheres of the earth, discover the Equatorial Standard and have lunch in a local restaurant. At the appointed time… we return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Ecolodge Inhame.

Day 06 – Gastronomic route | Lunch at Roça com os Tachos

Lunch at Roça com os Tachos. Back on the road to the capital, we’ll stop to visit other sights. The highlight of the day is the Mirador do Rio Cauê. One of the most fascinating places on this route is a hidden beach. Here we’ll find a mirror of water reflecting the imposing Pico do Cão Grande. Time for a final swim on the large beach.

Nearby, crossing the large palm grove, is the Ribeira Peixe waterfall, next to the fishermen’s beach. A photographic moment in an unforgettable setting. After lunch, we crossed the town of Angolares to arrive at the Plantation of chef João Carlos Silva, the famous chef from the programme Na Roça com os Tachos. Get ready for a festival of flavours at this delicious gourmet lunch, which is also included in our fantastic expedition. Continue to the city. Accommodation.

Day 07 – PRÍNCIPE ISLAND

It’s time to pack your bags and continue our elegant experience in the land of Princes and Princesses. One experience per day is included during your stay on Príncipe Island. Excursions usually start at 9am, depending on weather and sea conditions. In the event of adverse weather conditions, some experiences may be postponed or take place in the afternoon. Our Agency has a seal of guarantee and commitment to our travellers, and for this reason, being on the island of Príncipe and in line with sustainable tourism, we will take you on incredible tours with the quality of the Roça Sundy team. This region will allow all our dear travellers to understand why this island is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Day 08 – PRÍNCIPE ISLAND

The island is incredibly beautiful. And all the tours are designed to allow you to discover it from north to south. The order of visits, activities and excursions is subject to change.

 Breakfast at the hotel and morning visit to discover the island: panoramic view of Nova Estrela, Terreiro Velho and Comunidade Abade and Roça Abade. In the afternoon we’ll go to Sundy Praia and enjoy its facilities.  Dinner and accommodation.

Day 09 – PRÍNCIPE ISLAND

Breakfast at the hotel. Every day this corner of paradise offers us a fascinating discovery. Take advantage of our excellent services and join our daily tours. However, as privileged travellers, one of the most popular activities for members of our expedition is to discover and enjoy the facilities at Sundy Praia, part of the HBD Group hotel chain. Day 10 – Flight to São Tomé

The best of Sao Tome. Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure. At the appointed time, transfer to the airport and boarding formalities for the scheduled flight to São Tomé. On arrival, immediate transfer to the hotel.

Day 11 – Free day and return flight to Portugal

This return is different. It’s a return that makes you smile. It’s always a thrill to relive the memories and reminiscences of this adventure in these wonderful islands. With a night flight, our arrival in Lisbon is scheduled for 5.30am. End of our services.
